371ST INFANTRY REGIMENT The 371st Infantry Regiment was a segregated African American regiment that served in World War I and World War II. The regiment was organized in August 1917 at Camp Jackson, South Carolina (now Fort Jackson) and consisted of African American draftees from South Carolina, Florida, Georgia, North Carolina, Maryland, and Pennsylvania. The regiment was nominally part of the 93rd Division and served in World War I under French Army command. In World War II, the regiment served in the Italian Campaign as part of the 92nd Infantry Division.
