Those three words defined the 761st Tank Battalion — the Black Panthers — from the moment they entered World War II. Activated in 1942 and deployed under General George S. Patton's Third Army in 1944, they became the first African American armored unit to see combat in Europe. They fought through France, Belgium, and Germany with relentless precision, earning a Presidential Unit Citation that took decades to officially receive.
